One-to-one youth care: This endeavour, no doubt, is the most effective when it comes to helping youth know God’s love and desire more wholeness in their lives. Our ministry aims to provide whole-person care to homeless and street-involved youth and one-to-one meetings help us do this. Some examples of these one-to-one meetings with homeless youth are: meeting for a meal with a young person to talk about what is going on in their lives, spending time with youth in a safe space (for example, a church space), cooking with youth, going to a horse farm with a young woman, celebrating a birthday/special event, as well as going with young people to healthcare or other helpful appointments, or meeting with other service providers, like housing workers or child welfare workers, alongside youth. In all of these 1-1 times with youth, our relationships deepen, I hear more of their stories, and have opportunities to share in word and action God’s love for them.
